Tactical EMS

Tactical EMS, commonly known as TEMS, is a specialized certification that combines extensive classroom education with rigorous hands-on training. Built on the principles of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) — originally developed by the U.S. military — Tactical EMS providers are trained to deliver emergency medical care in high-threat, austere environments, including active shooter situations and other dynamic tactical incidents.

The Dells-Delton EMS Tactical Unit currently consists of four dedicated members who are certified as Tactical EMS providers by the State of Wisconsin. We also have additional certified Tactical EMS providers on staff who support the program as needed.

Our Tactical Unit now provides medical support to both the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department Emergency Response Team (ERT) (with two medics) and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department Emergency Response Team (ERT) (with two medics). In these partnerships, we deliver advanced care to law enforcement officers and civilians during high-risk operations. The Dells-Delton EMS Tactical Unit is also available to assist neighboring counties and communities when requested.

Thanks to generous grants from Walmart and Canadian Pacific Railroad, our team is equipped with critical protective gear — including bulletproof vests, helmets, and specialized medical equipment — allowing us to deliver the highest level of care while maintaining the greatest possible safety in hazardous situations.

The Dells-Delton EMS Tactical Unit remains committed to protecting our community by bridging the gap between tactical operations and advanced medical care.
